Winter in Boston and Beyond

Boston is one of my favorite cities in the world! It’s clean, charming and filled with history, and while I may be slightly biased since I went to school here and grew up only an hour away, I truly believe it has something for everyone. The only catch for me… I HATE the cold. I dread shoveling, the dirty snow piles that last until April and the unexpected storms that throw a wrench into my whole day. I figured this was something I may outgrow, but as time goes on I’ve realized winter weather is just not for me. So to be honest, when I got a few requests to put a blog together regarding my favorite things to do in Boston during the winter, I actually laughed out loud. Cue sitting down to write this post and realizing wow Boston rocks EVEN in the winter. Whether you’re ready to brave the cold because you’re visiting for the weekend and hoping to rock your winter jacket that doesn’t get much use, you’re a true Bostonian, or you like to stay cozy and dry inside (like me) this list has something for everyone, just like this magical city I call home right now.

While this one is a little bit of a drive from the city, it’s the perfect New England weekend getaway. Airbnb has an awesome collection of tiny houses located in New Hampshire and Vermont, but be sure to book quickly because these tiny houses go fast!

5. Visit New Hampshire’s Ice Castles

Also outside the city but a winter must-see! The ice castles in New Hampshire make for a fun day trip and breathtaking sights. Check their website for ticket pricing and their grand opening (currently their website says early January) and pick a date to go explore.

6. play darts at the new Flight Club

Boston’s new Flight Club in the Seaport is an awesome place to grab food and drinks with friends, watch a game and of course for those of you with a competitive edge play darts! Brian and I checked it out last week with friends and it’s such a cool spot.

7. Sip warm cocktails at the Igloo Bar at the Envoy Hotel

Visit the Envoy Hotel and cozy up with friends in one of their heated igloos. See spectacular views of Boston while enjoying your favorite winter cocktails. For more information on how to reserve these click here.

8. Take a Cooking Class

Take a cooking class at Self Up Boston. After hearing about this from a friend I immediately checked out their website and was super impressed by the variety of classes they offer. Perfect for a date night or someone looking to really up their game in the kitchen.

9. Catch a Bruins Game

Head over to TD Garden and watch the Boston Bruins play. While Boston sporting events are a MUST no matter what season it is, Hockey felt the most fitting for winter time.
